Ladies and gentlemen, save your dates for the upcoming weekend as Buddh International Circuit will host a bunch of race event to satiate your motorsport hunger. The biggest attraction of the three-day event, which starts from September 30 and will run until October 2, is the Asia Road Racing Championship, which will be followed by the final round of VW Vento Cup 2016. Other than that, India’s largest race track will also be home to 'One Make' motorcycle races from manufacturers like Honda, TVS, and Suzuki.
Looking for passes? Well, head to any of the above-mentioned manufacturers' dealership in the Delhi & NCR region. You might just get free passes as well! For those looking forward to visiting the event from outside of the region, calling up the booking counter of BIC seems like the only option. I did try to look up tickets on BookMyShow, but wasn’t able to find any listings of the event.
Speaking of the ARRC, the international championship comprises of four categories, namely: Asia Dream Cup (Honda CBR250), the SuperSport 600cc, the Asia Production 250cc and the Underbone 130cc. Two out of these four events have three Indian racers - Hari Krishnan Rajagopal and Rajiv Sethu competing in the Asia Dream Cup, and Chennai-lad Sarath Kumar, racing in the 600cc SuperSport category. So, you’ll have plenty of riders to support in the ARRC. Apart from these, there would be plenty of talent from Thailand, Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia competing for the title.
Besides, the MMSC One Make Championship races will be stacked between the races of the ARRC, which leaves negligible chances for spectators to get bored. The races will comprise of the Honda CBR250R open class, the TVS RTR 200 (open) and the Suzuki Gixxer cup.
Not a motorcycle racing fan? Then the final round of the 2016 VW Vento cup is the one race to look forward to. The competition amongst the top contenders will be very fierce as they will try to clinch the title in their last chance to claim glory in this edition of the championship.
The current leader in the VW Vento Cup is Ishaan Dodhiwala from Hyderabad with a total of 408 points from his victories in the previous rounds. His closest competitor, Karminder Pal Singh stands with 374 points in the second position and by all means, would want to clinch the title. The same goes for the Goan driver Keith Desouza, who would want to snatch the second spot from Karminder as he is about 50 points behind the latter.
It's going to be a petrolhead’s weekend. Hope you visit the track, and in case you can’t watch out for our race reports!
